National Bursary Program 2020 / Programme national de bourses 2020

SEIU Local 2 is pleased to be offering a yearly bursary program that will award up to seven bursaries to full-time students who will be attending or returning to a University or Community College.

Only active SEIU 2 Union members and their dependents will be eligible to apply.

In order to qualify for consideration, the following criteria needs to be submitted no later than July 17, 2020

1. Completed application form (linked here for download)
2. Proof of acceptance into or enrollment at a University or Community College
3. Student ID Number
4. A typed essay, maximum of 750 words, on the topic: “Why is post-secondary education still important in Canada?”

Please note that the bursary amounts awarded will be as follows: three $1000 regional awards, three $1500 regional awards, and one $2500 national award. (Regional awards will mean one applicant per region awarded from the West, East, and Central regions of Canada). Only the seven successful candidates will be notified, and their names will be published in SEIU Local 2’s September 2020 newsletter. We wish all participants the best of luck!

Le syndicat «SEIU Local 2» est heureuse d’offrir un programme de bourses annuel qui accordera jusqu’à sept bourses à des étudiants à temps plein qui fréquenteront ou retourneront dans une université ou un collège communautaire.

Seuls les membres actifs du Syndicat et leurs personnes à charge seront éligibles.

Pour pouvoir être pris en considération, les critères suivants doivent être soumis au plus tard le 17 juillet 2020:

1. Formulaire de demande rempli
2. Preuve d’acceptation ou d’inscription dans une université ou un collège communautaire
3. Numéro d’identification de l’étudiant
4. Une dissertation d’un maximum de 750 mots, saisi a l’ordinateur sur le sujet suivant: «Pourquoi l’éducation postsecondaire est-elle toujours importante au Canada?»

Veuillez noter que les bourses seront attribuées de la façon suivante : trois bourses régionales de 1 000 $; trois bourses régionales de 1 500 $ et; un prix national de 2 500 $. (Les prix régionaux signifieront un candidat par région des régions de l’Ouest, de l’Est et du Centre du Canada.) Seuls les sept candidats retenus seront avisés et leurs noms seront publiés dans le bulletin de septembre 2020 du Syndicat.
